Procedure Text - Part 2

Today still discuss about Procedure Text but in Chapter 5 Part 2. The material is the same as before.
Definition
Procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to make or use something. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of steps.
Purpose
The purpose of the procedure text is to explain the steps in carrying out a particular activity.
Generic Structure of Procedure Text
1. Aim/goal (goal)
It is located in the title of the text and is used to indicate the purpose of the text.
Example: How to Make Noodle.
2. Ingredients
Contains materials or tools needed in the steps to carry out the process.
Example: The materials to make an omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.
3. Steps/methods
Contains methods, methods, or steps taken to achieve the objectives in the text.
Characteristics of procedure text
- Usually Uses Simple Present Tense with the formula (S+V1)
- imperative form / command form
- Using action verbs, for example: make, take, boil, cook
- Using temporal conjunctions, for example: First, then, next, after that, last
- Using conjunctions to sequence activities, for example, then, while, etc.
- Using adverbs (adverbs) to express detailed time, place, accurate ways, for example for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
- Using adverbs (adverbs) to express stages or sequences, for example the first, the second, the third, the last, etc.
